A case of Parkinson¡¯s disease patient with kinematic symptoms which was improved by acupture and moxibustion on Dokmak(DuMai, Ô½Øæ)

Abstract

|
Objectives: This study was designed to investigate the effect of acupture and moxibustion on Dokmak(DuMai, Ô½Øæ) in Parkinson disease patient with muscular rigidity, bradykinesia, flexed posture and gait disturbance, resting tremor.
Methods: We treated a Parkinson¡¯s disease patient who had a 6-years history and complained of these symptoms: bradykinesia, cog-wheel rigidity, postural instability, flexed posture, gait disturbance, all extrimity tremor, masked face, constipation, anorexia. we diagnosed as YangHe-Zheung(YangXu-Zhung, åÕúÈñû) and Dokmak(DuMai, Ô½Øæ) disease- ChekGangBan Jeol(JiQiangbanShe, ô±ËÚãï¹) and acupture and direct moxibustion on DokMak(DuMai, Ô½Øæ)-JangGang(GV1, íþË), YoSu(GV2, é¦êä), YoYangGwan(GV3, é¦åÕμ), MyungMun(GV4, Ù¤Ú¦), HyunChu(GV5, úØõÒ), ChekJung(GV6, ô±ñé), and ZungChu(GV7, ñéõÒ) that have BoYang(BuYang, ÜÍåÕ) effect. And we evaluated the clinical progress of the patient using Unified Parkinson¡¯s Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS), Modified HY stage, ADL Index of Schwab and England and temporal distance gait analysis.
Result: After fourteen times treatment during 7-weeks, it was founded that acupture and moxibustion on DokMak(DuMai, Ô½Øæ)-JangGang(GV1, íþË), YoSu(GV2, é¦êä), YoYangGwan(GV3, é¦åÕμ), MyungMun(GV4, Ù¤Ú¦), HyunChu(GV5, úØõÒ), ChekJung(GV6, ô±ñé), ZungChu(GV7, ñéõÐ) improved the functional gait pattern with erect posture and reduced muscular rigidity.
Conclusions: The result suggest that acupture and moxibustion on DokMak(DuMai, Ô½Øæ)-JangGang(GV1, íþË), YoSu(GV2, é¦êä), YoYangGwan(GV3, é¦åÕμ), MyungMun(GV4, Ù¤Ú¦), HyunChu(GV5, úØõÒ), ChekJung(GV6, ô±ñé), ZungChu(GV7, ñéõÐ) is effective in the kinematic problem in Parkinson¡¯s disease
